The production and activation treatment of heavy calcium carbonate in China are all surface modification by dry or wet method after grinding heavy calcium carbonate into finished products by mechanical grinding. However, the modification of heavy calcium carbonate largely encapsulates the secondary particles of heavy calcium carbonate, which has no real effect on the dispersion and grinding aid of the particles. For example, the dry modification process of ester coupling agent is to place the ground heavy calcium in the modified equipment such as ball mill, high-speed kneader, air classifier and so on, and add modifier to modify it. This modification method is difficult to disperse the generated secondary particles. Wet modification is mainly obtained by mixing, stirring, dehydration and drying the ground powder in the aqueous solution of modifier. The cost of this modification method is high and the effect is not significant. After grinding and modification, it is not conducive not only to improving production efficiency, but also to saving costs.

The bulk volume of activated powder produced by traditional secondary activation modification process is generally reduced by more than 10% compared with the original powder, while the bulk volume of activated powder produced by one-time grinding coupling agent is increased by about 10% compared with the original powder, the comfort degree of hand is increased, and the appearance of the product is improved. According to the information feedback from a chemical company, the volume of powder heap increased by more than 10% after using cs-01 grinding coupling agent, while that of powder heap decreased by 10% after using other coupling agents for secondary activation.
At present, the detection data of ultrafine powders are usually dispersed by ultrasonic wave or added dispersant. The particles are detected by means of electron microscopy, particle size analyzer and other instruments. However, under natural conditions, the ultrafine powders contain a large number of agglomerated particles. The existence of secondary particles is so imperceptible that it can be classified as "ultrafine". In the process of polymer composite, agglomerated particles are difficult to be dispersed by external forces. Pseudo-agglomerated secondary particles are often the main reason for the low strength and poor surface smoothness of polymer composite. In the application of ultrafine powders, the pseudo-agglomerated particles must be processed and activated again, which increases the cost of ultrafine powders and activation. After the use of grinding aid coupling agent, the drawbacks of traditional technology are effectively eliminated.
Grinding aid coupling agent is 1/2-1/3 of the amount of common coupling agent in active heavy calcium. No other grinding aid is added in the production of superfine powder, and its production efficiency is increased by 10-20%. The traditional grinding and activation modification process are combined into one, which not only saves plant, equipment and power re-investment, but also saves electricity, labor, secondary packaging, production and management costs, at the same time. The production efficiency has been greatly improved. After using 0.1% L-1A grinding aid coupling agent, the output of production shift has increased from 7 tons to more than 9 tons. Product costs have been reduced.
Grinding coupling agent improves the processing performance of heavy calcium carbonate manufacturers and the comprehensive quality of downstream products. When a heavy calcium carbonate manufacturer used CS-01 grinding aid coupling agent 0.1% to produce heavy calcium carbonate as sealant, the curing time was shortened by five times, and the mechanical strength and appearance of the product were obviously improved. In plastic products, the fluidity is also greatly improved, and the surface finish and smoothness of the products are better.
According to the traditional process, the production of active heavy calcium carbonate requires grinding and activation, which will produce a large amount of dust and cause repeated pollution to the environment. Even if wet modification is used to reduce dust pollution in the modification process, the discharge of industrial wastewater will cause a lot of water pollution. The use of grinding aid coupling agent greatly reduces the dust pollution and water pollution in the whole process, saves electric energy, and has played a positive social benefit.
